Zagori

Zagori lies entirely within
the Northern Pindos National Park.
To the east and west are the National Forests
of Valia Calda and Vikos-Aoos, while in the intermediate area
or overlapping with the previous ones
there are several Natura 2000 protected areas.
Zagori, since September 2023, has been inscribed
as a Cultural Landscape in the Monuments
of the UNESCO World Heritage List.
It occupies a large part of the
UNESCO Vikos-Aoos Global Geopark, as well.
Three of it’s villages have also been
declared by the Greek state
as Places of Outstanding Natural Beauty:
Mikro & Megalo Papingo, Dilofo, and Monodendri

Some of the most notable natural attractions in the area are:
the Vikos Gorge,
the Aoos Gorge,
the Voidomatis River,
Lake Drakolimni or Dragon Lake.
