Wildlife

Zagori and its natural monuments are home
to a variety of wild animals.
The wild goat (Rupicapra rupicapra balcanica),
the brown bear (Ursus arctos), the wild boar (Sus scrofa), the otter (Lutra lutra),
the wolf (Canis lupus), the wildcat (Felis silvestris) and the roe deer (Capreolus capreolus),
are among the 60 mammal species living in the area,
which is considered the richest in mammals in Greece.
The golden eagle (Aguila chrysaetos), the Egyptian vulture (Neophron percnopterus)
and other birds of prey, as well as the rock partridge (Alectoris graeca),
are some of the approximately 110 bird species recorded in Zagori.
